Julie Weiss was born in Austria in 1911. She lived there until Nazi Germany invaded the country when she was 27 years old.

In 1938, she left Austria to travel to safety in London, where her brother Oswald lived.

Julie managed to make her way to London safely. She then moved to Leicester to escape the Blitz.

Julie’s solo journey from Austria to England would have required immense courage and an unwavering will to succeed

Julie lived in Leicester for several years before moving to Scotland, where she remained until her death in 1993.
